Paint colors fade and new paint can be applied...
Windows may break but can be replaced...
However, if your foundation fails, the entire building comes crashing down. The foundation is the most important part because EVERYTHING else is built upon it.
But there is a problem...
Isaiah 59:2 says,
"... your iniquities have separated you from your God; and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear."
Another word the bible uses for iniquity is "sin." The Bible defines sin as "... the transgression [breaking] of the law."
1 John 3:4b
1) Don't have any God's before me.
2) Don't make idols.
3) Don't take God's name in vain.
4) Honor the Sabbath Day.
5) Honor your parents.
6) Don't murder.
7) Don't commit adultery.
8) Don't steal.
9) Don't bear false witness.
10) Don't covet.
MORE IMPORTANT...
... than any building foundation - is the foundation upon which your life is built. When constructing a building, you can use many different foundational materials; some hold up better than others. In the same way, you can build your life upon all kinds of foundations (i.e., fame, money, relationships, self-righteousness, etc.), but in the end...
All foundations will fail except for ONE.
The only foundation that will never fail is
Jesus Christ
"Behold, I lay in Zion a chief cornerstone [the foundation], elect, precious, and he who believes in Him will by no means be put to shame."
1 Peter 2:6b
"But won't God just forgive my sin?"
Because of your sin, you deserve to die and go to Hell for eternity.
You may ask,
The answer is - No.
The penalty for your sin must be paid.
"Without the shedding of blood, there's no forgiveness [of sins]."
Hebrews 9:22b
However
The GOOD NEWS!
"God demonstrates His love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
Romans 5:8
The Bible says that
"the wages of sin is death."
Romans 6:23a
When we break God's law (sin), we make ourselves wicked, and the Bible says,
"The wicked shall be turned into hell."
Psalm 9:17
God offers you this gift.
Will you receive it?
"... if you confess with your mouth
Jesus as Lord,
and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,
you will be saved.
For with the heart a person believes,
resulting in righteousness,
and with the mouth he confesses,
resulting in salvation."
Romans 10:9-10
Will you humble yourself?
Will you acknowledge your sin and your need for a savior, then receive God's gift of Salvation today...
Come build your life upon
JESUS
He is the only sure foundation.
Jesus Christ died in your place for your sins. He paid the wages of your sin. Instead of eternal death in Hell, you can have eternal life in Heaven!
"but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
Romans 6:23
You can pray something like this...
"God,
I know that I have sinned
and broken your law by...
(Confess your sins).
I know that my sin
condemns me to hell for eternity.
I believe that Jesus died for my sins
and paid my penalty.
I now acknowledge
Jesus as the Lord of my life
and ask you to forgive me for my sin.
I receive your loving gift of salvation today.
Please save me.
I ask this in Jesus' name."
